What density measures

Density is how many hairs occupy a given area of scalp. A simple, imperfect read: how easily you can see scalp through dry, unparted hair in normal light.

High density does not mean coarse

These two traits get conflated constantly, and the conflation produces bad advice. High density with fine strands is extremely common, and so is low density with coarse strands.

Hairavie keeps density as routine guidance only — how much product a wash day realistically needs, how sectioning helps — and never lets it score a product.

When density changes

Density can shift with life stage, health events and time. A sudden or progressive change, widening parts or visible bald areas are reasons to speak with a qualified healthcare professional rather than to change shampoo.

How Hairavie knows this

Hairavie cites peer-reviewed research, scientific reviews, reference textbooks, dermatology organisations and government health resources. Beauty blogs are never used as scientific authority.
