Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Hairavie handles your information, as the product is actually built.

Effective date: 13 August 2026.

Overview

Hairavie is a personal hair intelligence service. This policy explains what information Hairavie handles when you use the app, and why. It describes the product as it is actually built.

Hairavie provides cosmetic hair-care guidance only. It does not diagnose or treat medical or scalp conditions.

In this policy "Hairavie", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Hairavie service.

Information you provide

Most of what Hairavie holds is information you choose to enter:

  • Answers to the Hair ID questionnaire
  • Products you add to My Shelf
  • Wash Journal entries and the outcomes you record
  • Optional photos attached to journal entries
  • Product or ingredient-label information you submit to improve the catalog
  • Questions you ask Hairlytics

Account information

Creating an account stores your email address and authentication credentials with Hairavie's managed authentication and database provider. Passwords are never stored in readable form by the app. Your account is what lets your Hair ID, shelf and journal follow you between devices.

Hair ID and profile information

Your Hair ID holds hair characteristics you report — pattern, porosity, density, thickness, scalp condition and your goals. It is used to personalise Hair Match, recommendations, routines and guidance. It is tied to your account and is not shown to other users.

Shelf and Wash Journal information

My Shelf records which products you own. The Wash Journal records what you used, when, and the outcomes you report. Journal entries store a snapshot of your Hair ID at the time of the entry so past entries stay meaningful if your profile later changes. This information powers your own history and your own personal patterns.

Photos and submissions

Photos are optional. If you attach a photo to a journal entry it is uploaded to Hairavie's private managed storage and linked to your account and that entry. Removing a photo from an entry removes the stored file.

You can also submit product details or a photo of a product or ingredient label to help Hairavie improve its catalog. Submissions may be viewed by authorised Hairavie administrators for catalog review. A submission does not automatically become verified product information, and on its own it does not change Hair Match, recommendations or what other members see. Hairavie keeps information members submit separate from product information it has independently verified.

Product scans

Barcode scanning runs in your browser using your device camera. Camera frames are processed on your device to read a barcode; the app does not upload a video stream. The decoded barcode or product text is used to look up a product in Hairavie's catalog. If you paste an ingredient list without identifying a product, it is analysed as an anonymous formula and is not attached to any product identity.

Weather and location functionality

Hair Forecast uses local weather conditions. If you allow it, your device provides coordinates which are rounded to an approximate area before any request is made; if you do not, you can use the feature by naming a location instead. Weather and location searches are provided by Open-Meteo, and turning an approximate position into a place name uses BigDataCloud. Those requests are made from your browser, so those providers may see your device's IP address.

A forecast location you save is kept on your own device, not in Hairavie's database, and forecast results are not stored on Hairavie's servers.

Hairlytics and AI interactions

When you ask Hairlytics a question, your question is sent to a third-party model provider through Hairavie's AI gateway, together with the relevant context from your Hair ID, shelf and catalog data needed to answer it. Conversations are stored with your account so you can see your history.

Hairlytics is AI-powered. Depending on your question it may use relevant Hairavie context — your Hair ID, My Shelf, context derived from your Wash Journal and experiments, catalog evidence, and your current weather or location context — to produce a personalised answer.

AI processing is routed through the Lovable AI Gateway to Google Gemini. Those providers may process and temporarily retain the information sent to them in line with their own applicable terms, policies and security requirements. Hairavie cannot make promises on their behalf about model training, retention or deletion, so this policy does not make any.

Hairlytics gives informational, personalised hair-care guidance. It does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment or professional dermatological advice — please seek qualified professional care for medical or scalp-health concerns.

Payment processing

Hairavie+ subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered directly with Stripe and are never received or stored by Hairavie. Hairavie stores subscription status information such as your plan, its state and renewal timing so the app knows what you have access to.

Service providers

Hairavie relies on the following service providers to run the service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database and file storage, including account emails such as sign-in and password reset
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management for Hairavie+
  • Lovable, including the Lovable AI Gateway — application hosting and AI infrastructure
  • Google Gemini — the AI model that generates Hairlytics answers
  • Open-Meteo — weather and location search for Hair Forecast
  • BigDataCloud — turning an approximate position into a place name for Hair Forecast

These providers may process information as reasonably necessary to provide their respective services to Hairavie. This processing is what makes the service work; it is not a transfer of your information to third parties for their own unrelated purposes.

Data security

Access is restricted at the database level. Your private account records — your Hair ID, shelf, journal entries and photos, scans and AI history — are readable only by your own signed-in session. Product information you submit to help improve the catalog is treated differently: authorised Hairavie administrators can also view it so it can be reviewed. Traffic between your device and Hairavie is served over HTTPS.

No online service can promise perfect security, and this policy does not do so.

If Hairavie becomes aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate and take appropriate steps. Where notification is required by applicable law, we will notify affected individuals and/or the relevant authorities as required.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from Profile → Account settings. Deleting your account removes your account records — your Hair ID, shelf, scans, journal entries and their photos, experiments and Hairlytics history — and cancels an active Hairavie+ subscription so you are not billed again.

Any product or ingredient-label photos you uploaded with a contribution are deleted at the same time. If a storage clean-up cannot be completed, Hairavie stops rather than reporting the account as deleted.

The product details you contributed may remain in Hairavie's catalog records to keep product information accurate, but they are no longer linked to you or to your deleted account. Product information that Hairavie has independently established through its own catalog review is not removed simply because a contributor later deletes their account.

Outside of deletion, Hairavie keeps personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our agreements and keep appropriate security and accounting records. There is no single fixed deletion timetable, because how long information is needed depends on why it is held.

Payment and accounting information may be kept where reasonably necessary for legal, tax, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes. Copies may also persist for a period in routine backups and system logs, so deletion is not instantaneous everywhere.

Your choices and rights

Within the app you can:

  • View and retake your Hair ID at any time
  • Edit or remove shelf items and journal entries, including photos
  • Download a copy of your main Hairavie account records from Profile → Account settings
  • Change your email or password
  • Delete your account
  • Decline camera and location permissions and still use the rest of the app

Depending on where you live, privacy law may also give you rights over your personal information — for example access, correction, deletion or other rights provided under applicable law. Which rights apply varies by jurisdiction, and not every right is available to everyone. To make a request, contact privacy@hairavie.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children's privacy

Hairavie is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a Hairavie account, and Hairavie is not directed to children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the associated account information.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Hairavie changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a revised effective date.
